| Will we see another young gun touring star emerge from the 80 drivers gathering at Bedworth for this years big meeting, a few of our young guns are already making waves on the national scene, hopefully this meeting will give them the stage to show off their talents and possibly we will see the next young touring car star come to the fore. | ![]() |
| Practice takes place today and we will back later this afternoon with news and photos from the track, as well a serious attempt to showcase our young talent, this meeting is very family orientated with a strong emphasis being put on having a good time, last year the meeting was overshadowed by bad weather but the forecast for Sunday is good, so fingers crossed. | ![]() |
| Practice is now well underway and a lot of drivers are arriving for a run this afternoon, many are camping overnight and enjoying the entertainment and hospitality being put on by the Bedworth club, I have delivered the raffle prizes but I also took the rain with me, I will have to stop this as I am getting a reputation from dragging west country storms with me wherever I go. Of the few drivers out on track Elliott Harper and Ali Graham both looked quick as you would expect, Bedworth is gearing up nicely for the event and we will online for up dates when the meeting gets underway in the morning......... | ![]() |
Good morning, we are now up running at the 2008 Young Guns meeting, early priority for the drivers were breakfast, getting booked in, for some collecting their 27 turn hand out motor and buying their very well priced RP30 control tyres, and of course that all important raffle ticket, the first round is underway.

What is it about touring cars and rain this year, once again a national qualifying round was interrupted by a shower of rain, never the less the round has now been completed and the top three in each class as follows
| Under 17 Pro Stock | Under 17 Stock | Under 14 Po Stock | Under 14 Stock | Under 12 Stock |
| Elliott Harper Ali Graham Liam Brookes | Bryan Loynes Matt Tuplin Becky Wilson | Sam Clifton Luke Thompson Ryan Edwards | Charlie Ware Michael Lee Craig Campbell | Zak Finlay Ben Mannell Ashley Caunt |
So no surprise to see Elliott Harper leading the big class, but expect Ali Graham to be keeping Elliott honest, the other classes are going with the form book at the moment and it has not stopped raining as we are into the second round.
Round 2
Following a rain effected round two ( not a down pour but enough to make the slick) Elliott Harper still leads the under 17 pro stock class but Ali has dropped to third with Liam Brookes now challenging Eliott. Bran Loynes still leads under 17 stock but now its from Scott Carter, Sam Clifton and Luke Thopson are having a good battle but Sam still leads by a second over Luke, Ryan Edwards is now third.

No change in the top three in under 14 stock with Charlie hanging in there, Zak Finlay is dominating under 12 stock and is a clear seven seconds down the road from Ben Mansell.
A dry last round saw most drivers post their best times of the day, Elliott remained top of the under 17 Pro Stock class, Ali Graham had a poor last round pulling out early on.
Final Qualifying Positions

The first round of finals are now underway and at the moment drivers seem to be facing the curse of being on pole, Charlie Ware, Zak Finlay, Sam Clifton, Bryan Loynes have all failed to convert pole to an A final win, but more on the finals later.

Before we talk about the finals it has to be said that the standard of driving at this years event has been superb, yes we have had referees but these were respected by the drivers and everyone showed a great deal of courtesy, as is the norm at this meeting.
Well lets start with the under 12 Stock A final. With a remarkable result from fifth on the, grid Jake Young came through to win overall with a first and a second place, Ben Mannell qualified second and finished there as Luke Lee completed the under 12 stock A finals. Many thanks to Horizon for their support and supplying the hand out stock motors used by everyone in this class.
The under 14 Stock A final was another class that did not finish in favour of the pole man. A troubled first final saw FTD man Charlie Ware finish outside the top three, this left the door open for Craig Campbell to take the win in front of Michael Lee and Connor Danes.
Sam Clifton was another pole man that did not convert pole to a win, in the under 14 Pro Stock class it was Ayrton Anderson that nipped it ahead of Sam and Ryan Edwards, Luke Thompson had a troubled day after a good qualifying.
Still no win for a pole man in the under 17 stock either, with Bryan Loynes losing out to Matty Tulpin. Bryan finished second with Luke Bennett third.
So could Elliott make a win from pole position, the answer was...... well the first final was closer than you would think, Elliott won but was made to work hard for it by Liam Brookes, this made Elliott re think and he drove a lot more controlled in the second leg and his win was a lot more clinical. So Elliott was crowned champ from Liam with Tom Watts finishing finishing third.
