THE ON ROAD CHAMPIONSHIP 2009 RULES

Venues
· The championship will be held over 7 Rounds for 2009.
· The last Round at each club will be double points.
· Each round will consist of 3 rounds of qualifying, with 2 finals.
· The best 10 scores out of 14 will be used to score the championship.
· Each venue will host the following number of rounds for 2009. |
- 3 at Stafford
- 2 at Bedworth
- Wrexham On Hold for 2009
- 2 at Broxtowe

Classes Raced.
· The following classes will be raced at each round.a
· Super Stock Class. 10.5 min BL brushless. 6 cell or lipo
· Stock Class. 13.5 or higher brushless. 6 cell or lipo
· 4 Cell Modified. Brushless motors allowed. 6 Turn limit for brushed motors will run with Super Stock.
· Carisma/Recoil Class will be run, (NiCad’s ONLY).
7.4 Volt Lipo cells will be allowed in, Super Stock and Stock classes. Those running in the 4 cell mod class or running modified with 5 cells must use nimh/nicd cells. Lipo cells must be in a hard case.
Please note,
The weight limits for each class will be as follows.
· 6 Cell classes, 1500 Gram Minimum.
· Those using LIPO Cells to run to 1500 grams, - 19t/10.5- 27t/13.5.
· 4 and 5 cell classes, 1425 Gram Minimum.
· Super Stock class and 4 cell modified class may be combined and run together in order to run the meeting as efficiently as possible.
· All classes are open to all drivers, sponsored or not.
· All electric motors must be on the BRCA Electric Board approved motor list at the time of the event. However, 27 Turn motors may have
bearings fitted in place of bushings.
· Brushless stock motors that are not listed by the BRCA electric board may be used but must be 13.5 turns or higher.
· In the Stock class 27 turn 13.5 brushless and above can run in this class side by side.
· The use of motor zappers is not allowed and will not be permitted on any land or property appertaining to that meeting.
Formulas
Super Stock 19 Turn/10.5, and 4 Cell Mod, /Brushless
1. F1 and F2 will be split on grades,
2. 83% and above will be F1
3. 82% and below will be F2
4. The top 3 placed drivers in F2 for 2007 will be moved up to F1 for the following season.
Stock 27 Turn/13.5 Brushless
1. F1 and F2 will be split on grades,
2. 83% and above will be F1
3. 82% and below will be F2
4. New drivers in the 27 Turn class will be placed into the formula based on their ability.
Points
1. Points will be awarded to each competitor in each formula. Combined result will be used to obtain the drivers ability only.
2. Points will be awarded for Finals only.
3. Finals will score 100 for a win, 99 for 2nd, 98 for 3rd and so on.
4. Points from each Final will be added together, those with the lowest points will be deemed the winner of that final, these will be converted
into points, i.e. winner of the A will get 100 points, B Final 90 points, and so on.
5, Anyone with equal points will be decided on highest grid place, on the day.
Last Round at each Club
1, At the last round of each Host club, points for that event will be Double.
Trophies/Awards
1. Trophies/Vouchers to be awarded to the top three in each class (minimum) and to the FTD in each class at each event.
2. Trophies at the end of the championship to be awarded to the top ten in each formula of each class, providing each entrant has scored the minimum of 10 scores in that formula. The number of trophies may be reduced or increased, depending on the number of entries received for each class/formula.
3. Junior awards will be given in each formula / class to the highest junior under 16 as of 1st April 2009
4. Senior awards no longer in operation.
5. All entrants who have completed the minimum number of rounds to qualify for the championship will be entered into the draw at the last
meeting of the series. This will be done by allocating each driver with a number and then drawn out and a prize allocated at random from the
prizes made available by the sponsors of the series.
Entries
1. Entry fee for 2009 is £10,50,
2. All entries for TORC 2009 will be via a Central Booking System, in extreme cases postal entries will be accepted, see address to which
these can be sent, but this is in extreme cases.
3. Entries will be accepted on a first come first served basis
4. Each event will be capped at certain numbers See Central Booking for info.
5. Closing dates will be the Friday the week before.
6. Classes will be filled depending on numbers entering.
7. Payment can be made by either Pay pal or Credit Card, payment can be made by cheque, but your entry will only be confirmed once
cheque has cleared, which could take over 7 days.
8. Refunds will be given to people giving a min of 2 weeks notice in writing or via correctly filled in form Via Central Booking.
9. On the day Entries accepted at the discretion of the Club Official, at a cost of £11,50.
The Meeting
1. All meetings to use auto lap counting system.
2. All tracks to provide where possible sufficient parking close to the drivers rostrum.
3. Booking in to close 8.55am.
4. Meeting to start by 9.30am.
5. Race times to be 5 minutes + finishing times in all classes
6. There will be 3 rounds of qualifying plus 2 finals.
7. Maximum entry: 12 Heats 120 Drivers preferred. Optional 13 heats if over subscribed.
8. Only drivers booked in may practice prior to track closing for racing to commence.
9. All competitors must have third party liability cover. BRCA membership will cover this. Each competitor must produce proof of
insurance or BRCA membership.
10. Any person entering the race area must have his or her own insurance, i.e. Helpers Pit Men..
The Race
1. Cars will be put down in the area designated by each club. Installation laps are not permitted. The area of the track which can be used for setting trim etc will be pointed out during the drivers briefing and must be adhered to.
2. Race time to be 5 minutes plus finishing time in all classes.
3. Cars must be in place at the line / grid position at the 30 second mark.
4. Staggered starts to be used in all qualifying rounds. Round 1 to be called whichever way the race director chooses. Rounds 2 to go off
round 1 position. Round 3 can go off FTD or previous time. Race director to inform method to be used at drivers briefing.
5. Heats and finals will be run in the same order or can be run back to back. The lower finals will start first, e.g. g final, then f final etc.
6. Drivers will remain on the rostrum until the heat has finished.
7. Mobile phones may not be used on the rostrum or whilst marshalling.
8. All entrants are expected to Marshall. The requirements to be set out by the race director on the day. Stand in marshals not allowed unless pre-notified at the start of the day.
9. Only marshals allowed within the track area once the 30-second countdown begins.
10. At the end of the race, each competitor will be told they have finished, either manually or automatically, and must pull their car into the pull off area until the race is over.
11. Each competitor must collect their cars from the pull off area at the end of the race, and not drive them around the track back to themselves.
Scrutineering.
1. All cars must be on the scrutineering table before the start of the next heat. Failure to do so will result in that loss of that heat time.
2. All cars will be scrutineered after the first run, improving cars after that. However, all cars must still be placed on the scrutineering table.
3. The Scrutineer may also randomly check any other competitor’s car.
4. The roof height will be measured with the car on an 8mm gauge. Heights will be Touring car 120mm. GT/GTO bodies 100mm.
5. Minimum weights will be; 1425 gram for 4 or 5 cell cars and 1500 gram for 6 cell cars.
6. Cars Running LIPO Cells the weight limit is 1500 grams
7. No wings to be higher than roof height.
8. All wheels and tyres must be free from any other scrutineering markings made elsewhere.
9. The competitor’s first set of tyres will be marked after the first round whilst being scrutineered.
10. The competitor may use a second set of tyres on the day, but must have these pre marked by the scrutineer before using them.
11. The scrutineer’s decision is final. It is the responsibility of the competitor to ensure their car complies with the scrutineering requirements.
12. Any person found using motors or batteries not approved by the BRCA electric board or tyres not allowed in the TORC series will have all their points deducted up to that meeting.
Tyres.
Only the Following tyres can be used in the TORC Championship.
· RP24
· RP30
· Sorex 32R
· Sorex 28R
· Vetec 24R
· Vetec 27R
The manufacturer pre-glues all tyres/wheels.
No alterations to the pre-glued wheels, tyres or inserts will be permitted.
Tyre warmers will be permitted, but must be removed from the car before it is taken into the defined track area. No tyre warmers trackside!
Tyre Additive.
Only Commercially available additive will be allowed (no cocktail mixes!) It is advised that anyone using additive follows the instructions printed on the container carefully for health and safety reasons. If the scrutineer suspects that any ‘suspect’ additive has been used, they have the right not to handle that car which will result in that car failing scrutineering. Strictly no ‘wintergreen’ based substances allowed.
Wet Weather
· Any treaded tyre can be used should the race director state that the race is wet.
· Wet tyres will not count towards the 2 sets per day rule.
· Wet tyres can only be used when the race director declares it a ‘wet race’ Once the race director declares it to be ‘dry’ if the weather improves then normal tyre rules re apply.
· No additives to be used in wet conditions.
Bodyshells
Any shell can be used in any class as long as it looks to scale and is not of the open cockpit or wedge shaped variety.
All air intakes/grills/lights and all other original decals must be applied. |GT style shells are permitted.
Transponders
1. Handout transponders will be available for all competitors in their heat. Manual counting will be done if possible, should a handout transponder fail.
2. Transponders must be mounted in the front windscreen of the car.
3. Where possible, problems with handout transponders will be resolved by the race director.
4. Personal transponders are allowed; the weight of these will be included in that of the car.
5. It is the responsibility of the entrant to ensure the weight of the car is correct with or without personal transponders.
6. The correct operation of a personal transponder is the responsibility of the driver of the car. Any problem relating to lap counting whilst using a personal transponder is not the problem of the club or race director of the day.
7. Race directors, at their discression may help to resolve any problems with lap counting when using personal transponders.
Protests
A competitor may protest about another competitor. This must be made to race director on the day. Protests can only me made by an entrant on the day, and not by any other person whatsoever.
Referee
Where possible each club will provide an independent referee for each meeting. Penalties issued by the referee must be given to the race director at the time of the incident and will be,
· 1st warning: 10-second penalty
· 2nd warning: Loss of FTD
· 3rd warning: Disqualification
Referees will be there to enforce driving standards and driver conduct on the rostrum. However the referee will also be aware of the skill level of the heat/drivers at the time and will adjust his / her decisions accordingly.
Driver Conduct
Any driver, representative, mechanic or friend of a driver found to be under the influence of drink or drugs, or using abusive language or behaving abusively will be expelled from the meeting and may be subject to further restrictions on admittance to other events.
Should there be any problems that may arise at events; an independent group of people will be selected to sort them out. This will normally consist of a representative from each club hosting a round of the TORC series. The meeting should only be abandoned after consultations with representatives from all clubs present with all are in total agreement.
No member of the BRCA 1/10th On-Road Electric Section has any jurisdiction over any of the meetings unless an incident arises which could bring the sport of model car racing into disrepute.
Last Round
It was decided by those present at the end of year General Meeting in November, that the last meeting due to possible weather issues would be held indoors, to allow for presentations of the raffle & End of Year Trophies to be awarded, this years raffle will be for all those who have done the min number of Rounds to count (5), also to only those booked in and Racing at the last Round.
